Getting into the building

There is step-free access into the hall through the Café Room. If you use a wheelchair, this is the entrance to head for.

There is space beside the Café Room doors to store up to two mobility scooters. Please mention it when you book or before you arrive, so we can make sure it is kept clear for you.

Inside the hall

The accessible toilets are at the back of the building. The accessible WC has a support bar, and a baby changing table.

Leaving in an emergency

The rear door is ramped, so there is a step-free way out as well as a step-free way in.

If you need something we have not mentioned

This page describes what we know. It is not a complete survey of the building, and there will be things we have not thought to write down.

If you are coming to the hall and you need to know about something specific — parking, seating, lighting, noise, a hearing loop, getting between rooms — please ask before you travel rather than hoping. A trustee would far rather answer a question than have somebody arrive and find they cannot manage.

This website

We have built this site to be usable without a mouse and readable without strain. Specifically:

• Every page starts with a Skip to content link, so a keyboard or screen reader user is not walked through the menu on every page.
• Everything you can click, you can reach with the Tab key, and the item you have reached is always visibly outlined.
• Text and background colours have been measured against the WCAG 2.1 contrast standards and meet at least AA, with most combinations meeting AAA.
• Pinch and zoom are not disabled. The site works when text is enlarged, and the layout reflows rather than scrolling sideways.
• Animation is switched off automatically if your device is set to reduce motion.
• Every photograph is published with a written description for anyone using a screen reader.

What we have not done

The site has not had a formal independent accessibility audit, so we are not claiming full conformance with any standard. What is listed above has been checked by us and is accurate as far as we know.

If you find something on this site you cannot use, that is a fault worth reporting, and we will treat it as one.

Tell us if we have got this wrong

Write to info@bowersallertontrust.org.uk and tell us what happened and what you were trying to do. We will reply, and we will tell you honestly whether we can fix it, when, or whether we cannot.

This is a village hall run by volunteers. Some things we can put right in an afternoon; some depend on money we are still raising. Either way you deserve a straight answer rather than silence.
